KIX PEERING POLICY
Konek IX (KIX) provides a neutral platform for networks to interconnect and exchange traffic.
1. TECHNICAL & OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Connection Prerequisites:
- ASN: You must have your own public Autonomous System Number (ASN)
- IP Addressing: You must possess at least a /24 block of IP addresses assigned by a recognized Internet Registry (like APNIC)
- Hardware: You need a router capable of BGP peering with a port speed of at least 1Gbps
Traffic & Port Rules:
- MAC Addressing: Only one MAC address is allowed per port (MAC locking). Traffic from other MACs will be dropped to prevent broadcast storms
- Allowed Traffic: Only specific Ethertypes are permitted:
| IPv4 (0x0800) | IPv6 (0x86dd) | ARP (0x0806) | 802.1Q (0x8100) |
- Prohibited Protocols: Proxy ARP must be disabled. Most link-local traffic (like CDP, LLDP, OSPF, DHCP) is not allowed, with the exception of ARP and IPv6 ND
- Congestion: Ports must not be congested. If a port's 99th percentile usage exceeds 90% of its capacity (e.g., 900Mbps on a 1G port), it may be subject to a mandatory upgrade
Liability & Responsibility:
- Members are responsible for their own equipment and must arrange suitable insurance to cover it, including third-party liability
- Konek IX (KIX) is not responsible for any loss, damages, or illegal activities performed by its participants
2. ADVANCED ROUTING CONTROL
Konek IX (KIX) provides members with powerful tools to manage their traffic flows, optimize performance, and enforce custom routing behaviors.
- Granular Route Control: Members can define sophisticated rules to precisely control how routes are handled, including whether to accept, reject, or modify them
- Traffic Engineering: You can dynamically shape traffic paths by modifying key BGP attributes:
→ Local Preference: Set local_preference values to prioritize certain routes over others
→ AS Path Prepending: Use as_path_prepend to influence how external networks choose to route traffic to your network
- Flexible Filtering: Policies can be integrated with prefix lists, allowing for efficient and reusable rules to filter out undesirable routes, enhance network security, and control route advertisements
3. MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT
Konek IX (KIX) operates on a core philosophy of collaboration, integrity, and innovation, expecting all members to uphold these principles.
- Trust and Respect: Members must treat all other participants, partners, and even competitors with sincerity, trust, and respect. All members must adhere to compliance rules and regulations
- Collaboration: The goal is to create a "borderless group" where all members form an alliance to create value with a sense of shared responsibility
- Global Mindset, Local Action: Members are encouraged to "Think Big" with a global mindset but "Start Small" by acting with speed and respecting local culture and customs
- Growth and Innovation: Konek IX (KIX) fosters a culture of continuous improvement. Members are encouraged to challenge themselves and support one another's efforts to grow and innovate
